Sahar's story of resilience began long before she joined Alekain. Shortly after she was born, she lost her mother to cancer and was raised by her grandmother, whose strength and love shaped the person she would become. Throughout her childhood, school became more than a place to learn; it was where she discovered confidence, leadership, and hope. As she grew older, Sahar faced discrimination, the threat of forced marriage, and eventually the closure of schools for girls. Losing access to education was one of the most painful moments of her life because it represented the loss of the future she had worked so hard to build. Joining Alekain gave her the opportunity to continue learning and rediscover that future. Since then, she has founded Afghanistan's first She's the First chapter, creating opportunities for girls to support one another and become leaders in their communities. Sahar hopes to study computer science before combining it with business to build companies and nonprofit organizations that create opportunities for underserved communities worldwide. Above all, she wants to prove that adversity does not define a person's future.
